Mariah Lebwohl, L.C.S.W.
As a therapist for the past six years I have worked with a wide range of children, teens, young adults and parents. My approach to counseling is rooted in building strong and loving families who can enjoy growing together. I often work with families who are struggling to build stronger connections to their children, families with children who have experienced trauma, are depressed or anxious. I have worked with families who are experiencing a wide range of challenges including children and their siblings who are experiencing difficult medical diagnoses such as cancer or diabetes, children whose parents are going through divorce or the death of a family member or friend.
Additionally I hold a post graduate certificate in working with adoptive families. Growing up with an adopted sibling I became passionate about working with adoptive families from a young age. Adoptive families share unique joys but also unique struggles and therapy can be an opportunity to further develop healthy attachments, a safe place to talk about the unique issues facing adoptive parents and children, help adopted children develop a healthy identity, explore issues related to birth families and support siblings.
Educational Background: I attended Lincoln high school before obtaining an undergraduate degree in Psychology at Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington. After working with at risk children in Portland I returned to graduate school and earned a Masters degree in social work in 2004 from Portland State University. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
